All the paintings are connected to Bruges, and most are by painters belonging to what is known as the Bruges School.
473. Rik Slabbinck (1914-1991)
Charcoal drawing: church interior. An atypical work by Hendrik.
466. Leon Dieperinck (1917-2010)
According to tradition, this may have been his last work. Unframed.
353. Medard Tytgat (1871-1948)
Brother of Edgard. He studied in Bruges and Brussels. This is an "allegory" depicting Belgium in 1915.
321. Gustave Anthone (1897-1925)
He died aged 28 in 1925. An exhibition of 72 of his works was held afterwards. His paintings are rare. Gaston De Craeke and Leo Paret wrote the catalogue.
417. Flori Van Acker (1858-1940)
A fine, large work by the “godfather” of the Bruges School and director of the Academy.
486. Louis Reckelbus (1864-1958)
The garden of his home at Westmeers 86. Framed in a typical frame behind glass.
459. Leon De Koninck (1916-1955)
The typical landscapes painted by Leon. Rough, sturdy trees in an autumnal, rugged landscape. He died aged 39 after a long illness he contracted while working as a hairdresser at AZ.
438. Arthur Vrielynck (1877-1918)
He made many beautiful watercolours. Sadly, he died in a bombing raid while painting by the Zuidervaartje in 1918.
496. Lionel Poupaert (1900-1989)
The Peerdenbrug. Lionel taught at the academy and was a gifted copyist, including of Memlinc.
491. Corneel Legenhoek (1903-1971)
The interior of the De Pelikaan almshouse on the Groene Rei. This was a gift for his nephew’s solemn communion in the 1930s.
254. Fernand Bouton (1901-1973)
Oil painting – the Meebrug. Bouton was a Belgian painter who regularly came to paint in Bruges. The work dates from 1927.
393. Joseph Leegenhoek (1923-1985)
Corneel’s brother. This is the Smedenpoort in 1925, before the Germans blew it up in 1944.
195. Aimé Van Belleghem (1922-1996)
He painted many portraits, as well as numerous surrealist sets. He was, and remains, a much-loved artist from Bruges, and his works have many collectors.
267. Roger Gobron (1899-1985)
He painted exclusively in watercolour. A commemorative plaque hangs on his house at Dweersstraat 30 in Bruges. His wife, Marie-Jo, was a poet.
228. Charles Verbrugghe (1877-1974)
An oil painting of "de Parisien" — Ventimiglia in Italy.
219. Florimond Aerts (1877-1934)
He studied at the academies in Bruges and Brussels and also taught at the Bruges academy, including René De Pauw, José Storie and Gustave Anthone. This sanguine drawing dates from 1918.
28. Richard Leutenez (1884-1960)
The famous Meebrug, along with the Peerdebrug, one of the oldest stone bridges in Bruges. Painted in 1930 from the Groene Rei.
414. André Vlaanderen (1881-1955)
A Dutchman who moved to the city of his surname and came to live in Bruges. A true “graphic artist”, as these works show. His works are not easy to find. He fitted easily into the Bruges art scene.
244. Louis Reckelbus (1864-1958)
Pastel — the interior of his home (Westmeers 86), which he filled with old artefacts. He was curator of the Bruges museums.
249. Unknown
An intriguing, beautiful old little work, painted with great finesse. Hand-signed but unidentified. Suits any wall.
258. Alfons Blomme (1889-1979)
Oil painting, “A Farm”. In 1933, he met Albert Einstein and painted him. His style was called “Blomism”.
395. Leo Van der Smissen (1900-1966)
A large-format oil painting of De Dijver in winter.
261. Denise Schaeverbeke (1924-1969)
Julie’s daughter, well known for her ballerinas. She founded the “Iris” art society with her father. Sadly, she died young after a long illness.
16. Walter Jonckheere (1924-1999)
A beautiful, atmospheric autumn scene at Arentshof (the Arents family). He was a police officer in Sint-Kruis and was therefore well known to the people of Bruges.
401. HV Wolvens (1896-1977)
A beautiful, intriguing work by Wolvens. Wolvens lived at Meerstraat 52, where a plaque hangs to remind passers-by of him.
152. R.E. Dupuis
A monumental, large-scale oil painting of the Groene Rei with the white pavilion. Large, with an imposing frame.
310. Jozef Middeleer (1865-1939)
In 1904, he moved to Daverlostraat in Assebroek. In 1886, he won second prize in Rome.
398. Charles Poupaert (1874-1935)
Market day on the Markt beneath the Belfry. Reminiscent of works by Flori Van Acker.
484. Jozef Middeleer (1865-1939)
The Beguines are on their way to the "lauds" on a misty, mystical morning.
485. Marguerite Aers (1918-1995)
Oil painting "la folle nuit des catherinettes." — women under 25 who are still single.
271. Fernand Coevoet (1910-1992)
Oil painting / still life. He painted with his mouth after an illness when he was nine.
294. Georges De Sloovere (1873-1970)
Georges was a fan of trees. He painted many, but this one is very impressionistic. Bright and colourful, bringing light to the room.
438. Arthur Vrielynck (1877-1918)
His works, often watercolours, are rare. He was tragically killed in a bombing raid while painting at the Zuidervaartje in 1918.
239. Jo Verhenneman (1918-1997)
Oil painting / still life. He came from Moen and settled in Bruges.
444. Florimond Aerts (1877-1934)
He was an important Bruges painter and also taught at the academy. He was known for his portraits.
463. Leon De Koninck (1916-1955)
He created magnificent Expressionist paintings, with tall trees as the protagonists. His brushwork was very powerful. He co-founded "Kring 46". While working as a hairdresser at AZ, he contracted TB and died at the age of 39. His daughter Betty was also a painter.
424. Charles Verbrugghe (1877-1974)
Venice. Charles loved the exotic places of southern Europe. A beautiful work! (unframed)
193. Walter Jonckheere (1924-1999)
A still life by Walter Jonckheere. An important painter of the last generation. We have other works by him in our collection for sale.
421. Felix Charles Constant (1865-1924)
The Belfry from Steenstraat—you can still go and look for the exact house. Born in Brussels, he fell in love with Bruges after visiting an exhibition on the Flemish Primitives in 1902, and lived there until his death.
196. Jef Van de Fackere (1879-1946)
He was an important teacher at the academy and a very fine painter. Attractive frame, behind glass.
38. August Costenoble (1894-1976)
He lived in Moenstraat and painted many works, mainly views of Bruges.
472. Gilbert Swimberghe (1927-2015)
Work in an edition of 200, in his signature style. One of the few artists of the Bruges School we can call modern. Avant-garde and geometric abstraction.
86. Jozef Middeleer (1865-1939)
His works are rare and of high quality. This work has a monumental frame. His works fetch high prices at auction.
377. Charles Verbrugghe (1877-1974)
We have several small works in the collection, on panel or canvas, featuring charming landscapes, as well as vases of flowers in many colours that could never have existed. Ask us about them ...
290. Gaston Oorlynck (1909-1989)
He trained at the Bruges art academy and later became a teacher at the academy in Ostend. His work is held at Mu.ZEE in Ostend. This is an oil painting of Den Dijver.
471. SOLD: Rik Slabbinck (1914-1991)
A beautiful lithograph of his well-known work. In the mornings, he would go to his little table, place some random objects on it and get to work. Many colours.
277. Guillaume Michiels (1909-1997)
A master of still-life painting. This work catches the eye, and you never tire of looking at it.
402. Edouard Rombaux (1899-1987)
A little Bruges bridge by a non-Bruges artist: the Peerdenbrug.
55. Marguerite Aers (1918-1995)
De Gouden Handrei — a work from the beginning of her painting career, when she was still painting views of Bruges.

The Beguinage of Bruges, painted in an old-fashioned, romantic style.
273. Flori Van Acker (1858-1940)
A large original poster (unframed) by Flori Van Acker of the vegetable market – Rozenhoedkaai.
266. SOLD: René Clarot (1882-1972)
A rarely painted corner of Bruges, looking towards St Salvator's Cathedral. René Clarot often came to paint in Bruges.
301. Alfred Van Neste (1874-1969)
An etching in Van Neste’s characteristic style (behind glass).
427. Leo Van der Smissen (1900-1966)
The Meebrug (unframed). Let’s hope they don’t fall into the canals.
368. Corneel Leegenhoek (1903-1971)
This is his wife, Marie-Henriette Mus, daughter of the sculptor Leon Mus. The painting was found in the attic. It dates from 1927 and is large-format.
407. Julien Fagel (1881-1937)
Julien Fagel's works are rare, and this one is no exception.
300. Marthe De Spiegeleire (1897-1991)
This Kortrijk native has made its way into the collection. Always intriguing work.
