This is an intriguing painting. It is the Meebrug. The oldest stone bridge in Bruges in the mist. He studied at the Bruges Art Academy with Flori Van Acker. He was known for his copying of old masters such as Hans Memling.

This is the St. Jacob's Church at night. A somewhat frightening scene. Emiel was trained by Lionel Poupaert and Jules Fonteyne, among others. Gold, yellow and purple were his favorite colors.

This is as impressionistic as it gets. Up close it’s just specks of paint, but from further away you can see a stream and some trees. The frame is eye-catching. This work will make an impression on any wall.

When Julien was painting along the Seine, a man approached him and invited him to come and work as a gardener in his home. The man was Claude Monet.

This is the Peerdebrug. Leo became deaf and dumb at a young age. He could be seen in many Bruges living rooms and painted every spot in beautiful Bruges.

A bronze relief depicting the Good Samaritan. Rotsaert also made the statue of King Albert I in the King Albert I Park.

Here he painted his teacher Flori Van Acker, for whom he had great admiration. He also wrote several books about Bruges and in 1990 "The School of Bruges", in which he presented some 110 painters from the city.

He is considered the godfather of the Bruges school. This scene was painted in Lissewege, the white village in Bruges.

One of the most famous painters of the Bruges school. They called him the Parisian of Bruges because he lived in Montmartre and was friends with Renoir, Degas and Monet.
